JUST CALL ME SHIRLEY
Just Call Me Shirley was a passion project presented to Utopia Design by Social Culture Creative, a social media marketing agency. Their mission was to reintroduce the classic Shirley Temple Cocktail in a 12 oz. can to appeal to any cocktail lover. The primary goal of this project was to craft a visually-stimulating design that offered a sense of nostalgia through the vintage nature of the beverage while also having modern appeal.
The design features a custom illustration of a bubbly blonde woman with colorful features and holding a retro landline telephone. The minimalistic layout of the design finds cohesion through the bold color choices and a curly cord pattern that spans across the can.
THE BLONDE WOMAN
The illustration of the blonde woman not only gives nod to the co-founders of Social Culture Creative as a Women-Owned Business, but it also works to tastefully introduce an essence of nostalgia that transcends the social norms of who could be the 'end-drinker'.
The landline telephone is reminiscent of a classical era; a true contemporary of the classic Shirley Temple Cocktail. This element is a playful take on modernizing a vintage item and presents a light-hearted play on words.
